When I nod my head...
When I nod my head...
My buddy Jim recently lost his fight with cancer and I was looking thru old band video/pics when I found this. More than a couple of tears shed while watching, but he was a solid bass player, a fantastic human and fought with an incredible amount of grace, humility, and dignity.
F cancer, RIP Jim.
Unremarkable playing throughout, but it captured an early run thru of a Ben Harper song that I had lobbied to have less guitar and a short mandolin break. The late Mr. Jim is on bass.
My mando break is not great but maybe not awful either. What cracked me up is the number of head nods, smiles, and even finger pointing at the lead singer to come back in.
At 63YO, he decided to start singing and does not play an instrument. His feel (and attention to cues) is completely different than our singer/guitar players. Not a criticism, just an observation.
And the lovely female backup singer owns the barn (and horse farm where we rehearse); she was coaxed up to that mic after a few drinkies. She would hate that I posted this!
There is no need to watch to the end, although I do manage to switch back to rhythm guitar without injury or great embarrassment.
File this under TL;DR.
